Tung-Liao Cheng, the principal investigator at the Taiwan Experimental Education Center and an associate professor in the Department of Education at National Chengchi University (NCCU), visited Hershey Montessori School summer 2018. He was deeply impressed by how independent and confident the students were.

As one senior high school student explained, “Kids here aren’t afraid. Apart from learning about different things, what’s more important is that we know how to learn.” According to Cheng, “I saw that Montessori is very strong in regards to the ability to learn independently.”

“You find that the scope of student learning is complex and deep, that it involves great understanding and empathy for real-world problems,” said Laurie Ewert-Krocker, Upper School Program Director at Hershey Montessori School in Ohio. “What they learn is closely related to society, so they are very robust and diligent learners.”
