Accessible Montessori

Making Montessori accessible to all.

In April 2018, the Y2 team attended the annual AMI meeting in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where delegates from around the world shared their own projects in progress. The presentation from a Kenyan delegate demonstrated that, despite a lack of resources, Montessori philosophy could still be put into practice in creative ways. In Taipei, the Municipal Wanhua Preschool also proved the possibility of incorporating the Montessori philosophy in the public school system through efforts of the kindergarten director and teachers.

With the hope that the Montessori method becomes one of many diverse options for education in Taiwan, we proposed the program “Montessori Education in Public Schools” in 2019, aiming to promote Montessori education through public schools. In 2021, the program was adjusted to promote “Accessible Montessori” and expand our influence to public schools and beyond.

The “Accessible Montessori” program includes a workshop designed for public-school educators. Nonetheless, if you are not a public-school educator but have great ideas or methods and the enthusiasm for introducing more children to the Montessori method, please send us your proposal. Y2 would love to hear from you! With the participation of more individuals like you, more families and children in Taiwan may have the opportunity to benefit from Montessori’s educational philosophy.
