Live to Learn, Learn to Live

Have you ever thought about your motivation for going to school, studying or learning?

Most people may probably instinctively reply it’s all about getting into the best schools.

And what about after getting into a good school? Then, it’s about finding a good job.

And after that? Securing a well-paid career in order to start a family.

And besides all of this? “Why do I learn? How exactly do I want to live my life? What kind of person do I really want to become?” In the course of growing up, these questions get far too little attention.

The great American sociologist, historian, and civil rights leader W.E.B. Du Bois (1868-1963) once said: “Education must not simply teach work – it must teach life.” We cannot agree more with this phrase.

2023 marks Y2’s seventh anniversary. Through the years, we have come to realize that education advocacy is akin to raising a child—both necessitating the collective efforts of a village. From frontline educators, education institutions and instructors that volunteer their valuable time and resources to help public schools transform, to companies that integrate education with corporate social responsibility, we'd like to dedicate this year’s annual report to all the individuals and organizations who have dedicated themselves to the welfare and education of children.

The development of a person is a never-ending progression of discovery, from our time in our family, school, and then in society. As we transition from one role to another, so must we continue to learn and grow. As you continuously explore and flourish throughout all stages of life, Y2 hopes to be the support in innovative ways.

2021 Annual Report

2021 is the fifth year of Y2's establishment.

Through the five years, we have shared with many others the stories about the Foundation. With deep love for our own children, we are awakened to looming uncertainties in the future but also new hope for a better tomorrow. We eagerly want to do something -- not only for our children’s sake but also for the world that we all share. As a result, Y2 Foundation for Future Education came into existence.

Our vision, “Be the change for future education”, is not one that can be easily achieved in a short amount of time. Even so, this belief is what has sustained Y2 and has connected so many partners, who share our vision to act. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and hope that you, too, are inspired to see your own unique powers to be the change. Join us, as we make our vision a reality!

The year 2020 has left a unique and indelible mark on all of us, no matter where in the world we are. The COVID-19 pandemic has redefined “normal” and upended countless lives. Children all around the world have suffered setbacks in education, as schools are shut down and remote learning is instituted.

In this restless year, we have continued to grapple with difficult questions: What is the true essence of education?

2019 Annual Report

2019 marks the second anniversary of Y2, a lot has happened in our seemingly short yet long journey. We faced challenges but also opportunities, yet the core of our work never wavered.

Y2 exists to support quality, alternative education choice in Taiwan, because we believe education is the key to a better future and that diversity and the freedom of choice in society are what drive innovation and advancement.
